The contrast experiment didn't work for me on this one. I love Hello Kitty and seeing it mixed with a cancer making product like a cigarette which has over 400 hundred chemicals added just to make you addicted doesn't make me happy at all.

Because I don't like something with a positive vibe like Hello Kitty being mixed with a cancerous thing which smells awful. It's like peeing on a pretty flower to me, not a good combo. (Sorry if that sounded rude, just gave my best shot to describe.)

ok then it sounds like the contrast DOES work.. you just dont like the concept of the cigarette
"peeing on a pretty flower" is pretty much a contrast too- a juxtapose of opposites. get it?

I know that, lol, you didn't have to explain it. I said the combination doesn't work for me- I find the combo of the two ugly because the result looks like a cigarette promotion using Hello Kitty as a background, not an art pic to me.

What's American Fetish exactly? Are cigarettes at the heart of it? The cigarette in this pic is so prominent. If you have time, you could write me about it :)

art is art-regardless if you think it's pretty or ugly.

Fetish is a lifestyle ... basically it means that I do not conform to mainstream ideals of beauty.

By ugly I meant not visually ugly but it's too much like a commercial glorifying smoking to me, and less art. I know about ugly art, though. Someone I know made shapeless pictures using her period blood and I consider it art because it shocked me.

And I know what fetish is. You wrote "American Fetish" starting with capital letters in the explanation so I thought maybe it's a movie, album etc. Anyway, good luck with your work :P
