Miss Eden, I feel compelled to send you this message after reading your exchange with "peopleandplaces".

You are an artist, as a model. You don't even need to qualify yourself as an artist with the other arts you practice. Modeling isn't always art, but it is art if you put art into it. You obviously perform as an artist when you model, even if you haven't quite thought of it that way.

Look, you and I both know that if all there was to modeling was to be attractive, there'd be a hell of a lot more models out there and it wouldn't be that special to be one. There is so much involved with the technique (posing, expression... etc.) that the profession is inherently a catalyst/springboard/promotes/burgeons for art.

Modeling is quite often a form of performance art. Who are the artists on a set where there's a photographer, makeup artist, hairdresser, lighting technicians, and a model? Just the photographer? Just the makeup artist? Just the hairdresser? Is there not an art to the manipulation of light for the purpose of creating art? So can't the lighting technician be an artist for his part if he puts art into it? How then is the model any less of an artist for her/his part than any of the other people involved?

You are an artist as a model. If there was no art to it, all the photos of you might as well be candid pictures of you doing whatever you felt like doing as part of your daily life. There would be no posing, no expression, no timing, and no skill/intent involved. It would all be accidental/incidental and pointless. Own it. You are an artist as a model. ...And a damn good one.
